What's the difference between made-to-measure and bespoke at your atelier?
Both are custom — the difference is in the depth of handwork and the pattern. Made-to-measure (MTM) starts from a base pattern adjusted to your individual measurements and crafted in our partner ateliers, with a 4–6 week lead time. Bespoke is fully hand-crafted from a unique paper pattern drafted from scratch for your body, hand-cut and hand-finished with multiple in-person fittings — lead time 10–14 weeks. Both use the same premium Italian and English fabrics. Bespoke just goes deeper into the craft. We help every client choose what's right during the first consultation at our 77 Bleecker showroom.
How long does it take to get a custom suit made?
Made-to-measure suits take 4–6 weeks from first fitting to delivery. Fully bespoke commissions take 10–14 weeks because of the hand-cutting and multiple fittings involved. Wedding clients should plan for at least 8–12 weeks lead time before the wedding date. We confirm a delivery date in writing at the start of every order.
How much does a wedding suit cost?
Made-to-measure wedding suits start around $2,800 in classic Italian or English wool. Tuxedos and dinner suits start at the same range. Bespoke wedding tailoring starts around $5,000 and scales with fabric (cashmere, vicuna, and rare mill stock at the higher end). Group/groomsmen pricing is available for parties of four or more — we coordinate fabric, lining, and styling across the entire wedding party.
Do you do alterations on suits I bought elsewhere?
Yes — we offer expert alterations and re-cutting of existing suits, jackets, tuxedos, and tailoring from any maker. This includes hemming, taking in or letting out jackets, shortening sleeves with functional buttonholes, and full structural re-cutting. Drop-off and pickup at our 77 Bleecker Street showroom by appointment.
Do I need an appointment to visit?
Yes — we work strictly by appointment to give every client undivided attention and full access to our fabric library. First fittings are typically 60–90 minutes and unhurried. Book through monsieurbrunold.com or call (212) 219-8559.
What fabrics do you work with?
Our fabric library spans the most respected mills in Italy and England — Loro Piana, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Drago, Holland & Sherry, Dormeuil, Fox Brothers, and Thomas Mason for shirting. We carry worsted wools, flannels, fresco weaves, linens, cottons, silks, cashmere, and dinner-suit cloths. Clients select from physical swatches in person at the showroom.
Can you outfit an entire wedding party?
Absolutely. We coordinate full wedding party tailoring for grooms and groomsmen, with matching or coordinated cloth, lining, button stance, and styling across the group. For remote groomsmen, we provide a measurement protocol they can complete with a local tailor. Recommended timeline: 8–12 weeks before the wedding date to allow for all fittings.
Where are you located and what are your hours?
Our showroom is at 77 Bleecker Street, Suite C2-10, in NoHo, Manhattan — between Broadway and Lafayette. Open Tuesday through Friday 11 AM to 7 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday 12 to 5 PM. Closed Mondays. By appointment only.
Do you offer business or executive wardrobe programs?
Yes — we run executive wardrobe programs for working professionals who need ongoing custom suiting. We store your measurements, reserve fabric stock, and handle repeat orders without re-fitting when your measurements haven't changed. Many executive clients add 2–4 suits per year on this program. We also do on-site corporate group fittings.
I'm getting married — when should I start the suit process?
Start at least 8–12 weeks before the wedding date for made-to-measure, and 12–16 weeks for fully bespoke. This allows time for consultation, build, and final adjustments. If you're outfitting the wedding party, add another 2–3 weeks. We book up quickly during May–October wedding season — the earlier the better.
